I picked up this bass because I was looking for a cheap acoustic that I could play around with. I'm not in a band, and just play bass for fun. This bass is surprisingly well made for the cost, and in the few months I've had it, has really not gone out of tune - which is what I figured would happen quite often because of the price point. I haven't tried to electric pick-up on it, so I'm not sure how it would sound amplified, but as a straight-up acoustic, it's a great deal for the money.

Amazing bass. It has the best sound volume unplugged, which is why I bought it. Plugged in it is pretty good. I love my Dean and would definitely recommend it to anyone.

I love this bass so much. It's huge but the sound is amazing. I'm very happy with it.

I've played six strings since I was 8 yrs old and am now in my 40's. I can separate junk from quality and this Dean is not a toy. This was my first four string purchased about two years ago and it continues to stay in tune when played aggresively, produce a high end sound (both acoustically and plugged in) and it's my opinion the aesthetics are top notch. I thank Dean guitars and Amazon for making this kind of affordable quality possible!

I was looking for an acoustic bass at a reasonable price and this met all expectations. I typically will use my electric, but have brought this out on camping trips and bonfires and it works well and gets the job done. The design is really nice and I've had no issues with it so far

I am a drummer at heart that was looking to pick up a cheap bass that I could play at home or travel and not have to carry around an amp. I was a little skeptical but this thing is awesome. Sounds great and has a durable feel to it. I def recommend.

Okay, it's not perfect. I read every review I could find. Bottom line is, for the price, you can't do any better. It came with a slight bow in the neck, the truss rod was almost loose. Adjusted the tension, no buzzing, still perhaps a tad high on the action, but it plays fine and sounds good. The electronics sound good if you play it through any pedal that works as a pre-amp. I suggest a graphic equalizer. I also use reverb and compression pedals. You can bring out the low end and make it sound just like it does without amplification. I play it through a PA system. I've played the Martin and everything else out there, truth is the playability and sound are good on this bass. The neck seems a tad shifted so the spacing is less on the E than the G to the edge of the neck, but it doesn't affect how it plays. It's staying in tune and exceeds my expectations. If you're looking for an acoustic bass, decide what your expectations are. For me, it's recording, acoustic gigs and acoustic gatherings. Seriously, for $150 it's an incredible deal and has far exceeded my expectations. I've had no problems of any kind. I recommend this bass, regardless of your level of play.

I'm pretty impressed with this bass, doubly so when you consider its low price. The sound is solid, the construction doesn't hint at it's low price like other bargain instruments do. As a professional musician looking to get back into playing bass guitar, this was a good way to get my feet wet.

I am very stoked on this purchase! Great value! I am a serious electric bass player that wanted something I could take camping and on road trips. I wanted something dependable and reasonably high quality at a bargain price because I want to take out and about without being worried about it. This abg delivers! It looks great and sounds deep, warm and surprisingly boomy. I strongly recommend some flatwound strings because the factory strings are tinny. With the D'Addario acoustic bronze, this baby sings like a dream! Dean is a quality maker and you won't find a better bargain...and I should know because I have been LOOKING! This abg is louder and warmer than other more expensive abg.s that I have tried.

I bought this bass over 3 years ago and still regularly use it. It is much better than I expected and has held up well so far. I'm still surprised at how nice it is given the cost. Other instruments of this quality go for ~$400 and you'd probably have to spend closer to $1000 to get something that is definitely better. The electronics are terrible however. Just awful, and I have no idea why they included them. They do work, if you must use them for some reason, but it is definitely best as an acoustic.
